Deadly plane crash in Aimargues, France

At least 10 people have been killed and several others injured after a plane crashed in Aimargues, southern France.

The plane, a light aircraft, came down in a field near the town of Aimargues, in the Gard department. The cause of the crash is not yet known.

Emergency services are at the scene and an investigation has been launched. Witnesses reported seeing a plane flying low before it crashed into the ground. The plane burst into flames on impact, witnesses said.

The French aviation authority, the Bureau d'Enquêtes et d'Analyses pour la sécurité de l'aviation civile (BEA), has opened an investigation into the crash. The BEA is responsible for investigating all aviation accidents and incidents in France.

The crash is the second fatal plane crash in France in less than a week. On Tuesday, a small plane crashed into a house in the town of Les Gets, southeastern France, killing all four people on board.

The cause of that crash is also under investigation.
