Early Beginnings

The origins of Lockheed Martin can be traced back to the formation of the Loughead Aircraft Manufacturing Company in 1912 by Allan Loughead and his brother Malcolm. The company's early focus was on the production of seaplanes and later diversified into other areas of aviation. In 1926, Loughead Aircraft merged with the Vega Airplane Company to form Lockheed Aircraft Corporation.

Merger and Expansion

In 1995, Lockheed Corporation merged with Martin Marietta to form Lockheed Martin. The merger brought together two of the largest defense contractors in the United States, creating a global leader in the aerospace and defense industry.
