How to Personalize Your Windows 10 Desktop with Custom Wallpapers
Select the Right Picture
When choosing a picture for your desktop wallpaper, consider the size of your screen and the overall aesthetic you want to achieve. High-resolution images will provide the best quality, while images that match the aspect ratio of your screen will avoid stretching or cropping.
Set Your Wallpaper Using File Explorer
Open File Explorer and navigate to the folder containing the image you want to use. Right-click on the image and select "Set as desktop background." This will instantly change your wallpaper to the selected image.
Right-Click Menu
In File Explorer, you can also right-click on an image and choose "Set as desktop background" from the context menu. This method is convenient when you're browsing for new wallpapers.
Customize Your Wallpaper Settings
Multiple Monitors
To set different wallpapers on each monitor, go to Settings > Personalization > Background. Right-click on an image under "Choose a picture" and select "Set for monitor 1" or "Set for monitor 2."
Live Wallpapers
The Desktop Live Wallpaper app from the Microsoft Store lets you set any video file as your desktop wallpaper. This adds a dynamic touch to your background.
Transparency
To make your wallpaper semi-transparent, go to Settings > Personalization > Colors. Enable "Transparency effects" and adjust the "Transparency" slider to control the level of transparency.
Slideshow Wallpaper
To create a slideshow wallpaper that cycles through multiple images, go to Settings > Personalization > Background. Under "Choose a picture," select "Slideshow" and add the desired images to the folder.
